New Facebook event features digital dance classes, art workshops, story times, virtual exhibitions and more
A new Facebook event featuring online activities from Barnsley Museums, Barnsley Libraries and the town centre events team has been launched by Barnsley Council – and we want you to get involved.
#BeatTheBoredom – a new event portal found on the council’s Facebook page – will feature a raft of online activities to help keep families entertained during lockdown.
Content will include Barnsley Museums’ online jigsaws showcasing the town’s art, history, buildings, landscapes and famous faces. There will also be films, 360 virtual tours, poetry from Ian McMillan, family activities, nature sessions, blogs, vlogs and more.
Barnsley Libraries will host a virtual library, so you can enjoy activities including digital storytime, Lego Club, Code Club and more to keep you inspired at home.
Meanwhile, the town centre events team – the team behind Dancing Town, Barnsley’s Big Weekend and Barnsley Bright Nights - will present virtual dance workshops including cheerleading, as well as comedy sketches and create your own art workshops.
You’re encouraged to show your #BarnsleySpirit and upload your own content to the page – whether it’s videos of you dancing, photos of your artwork or activities you’ve created yourself to #BeatTheBoredom.
Don’t forget to check the event page every day for new content.
And remember to use the hashtags #BarnsleySpirit and #BeatTheBoredom to join in the conversation.
