Blooming great result in this year’s Yorkshire in Bloom

It's that time again when Barnsley is celebrating its exceptional reputation for beautiful landscapes in this year’s Yorkshire in Bloom awards. This year, the borough received a blossoming total of 22 awards.

The results follow a visit from the Yorkshire in Bloom judges earlier in the year where they assessed several of Barnsley's beautiful green spaces, squares, and gardens.

Barnsley's results in full were:

Barnsley Hospice – Charitable Organisations - Gold (Joint Category Winner)

Barnsley Main Heritage Group – Parks, Gardens and Open Spaces - Silver

Cannon Hall Park and Gardens - Parks Gardens and Open spaces - Platinum

Carlton Marsh Nature Reserve – Parks, Gardens, and Open Spaces - Platinum

Elsecar Park and Nature Reserve – Parks, Gardens, and Open Spaces - Platinum

Friends of Monk Bretton Park – Parks, Gardens, and Open Spaces - Gold

Friends of Monk Bretton Memorial Garden – Parks, Gardens, & Open Spaces - Platinum

Friends of Thurnscoe Park – Parks, Gardens, and Open Spaces - Gold

Friends of Wilthorpe Park – Parks, Gardens, and Open Spaces - Platinum              

Royston Canal Club – Parks, Gardens, and Open Spaces - Platinum

Owd Martha’s Yard – Growing Your Community - Silver Gilt   

Discretionary award for Best New Entry Into Grow Your Community - Owd Martha’s Yard

Darton Academy – RHS Its Your Neighbourhood - Level 2 - Improving

Dearne Valley Country Park Group – RHS Its Your Neighbourhood - Level 4 Thriving

Robert St Community Allotment – RHS It’s your Neighbourhood - Level 4 Thriving      

Royston Green Spaces Group – RHS It’s your Neighbourhood - Level 5 Outstanding

Wortley Hall Wall Garden – RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood - Level 3 Advancing                                       

Oxspring Primary School – Young Peoples Award - Gold

Birkwood Primary School – Young Peoples Award - Gold (Category Winner)

Discretionary award for Best Platinum Jubilee Project/Display - Owd Martha’s Yard
