Barnsley Council would like to remind local landlords and letting agents across Barnsley about a free event they are hosting on Tuesday 12 February in partnership with the National Landlords Association (NLA) to offer expert advice, help and support in letting out their properties.
At the event, attendees will hear about the vast amount of support available to them including making sure their properties meet appropriate safety standards and are maintained to an adequate standard. Prospective landlords and empty home owners are also urged to attend the event for advice on becoming a responsible landlord.
Landlords will have the opportunity to hear from guest speakers, visit a number of information stalls - including representatives from Housing Options and Humankind Housing, as well as the chance to talk to members of the Empty Homes team, Berneslai Property Management Service and Neighbourhood Services.
Cllr Roy Miller, Cabinet Spokesperson for Place, said: “We’re strongly committed to driving housing growth across the borough making sure there are enough homes available to meet our growing population. Equally important is our priority to make sure the housing available is of a high standard.
“One way we’re achieving this is by supporting private landlords and letting agents to make sure their properties are managed in accordance with the necessary standards to provide good quality housing across the borough to residents. Holding events such as this are a great way for us to promote the services and support we offer to make sure our landlords are as responsible as they can be – including those considering becoming a landlord”.
The free event will take place at the Metrodome Leisure Complex between 5pm and 8pm. Guests are invited to register their place through Eventbrite or email: email@example.com. For more information, call: 01226 774047.
This event is linked to Town Spirit, our new way of working better together. We believe, that if everyone in Barnsley does just one thing, we can make our borough a more welcoming place to live, work, invest and visit.
We’re committed to #BuildIt by creating more and better homes. To help us achieve this, we need people to #OwnIt by reporting empty homes and working with us to provide good quality housing to tenants.
