For its first indoor exhibition since its reopening, Cannon Hall Museum will host a stunning display of photography work that celebrates the beauty of the picturesque town of Barnsley.
‘Beautiful Barnsley’ a free exhibition on display from Friday, 25 September to Sunday, 28 February is a selection of seventeen winning entries from a competition hosted by the museum in partnership with the International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) organisation earlier in the year.
It includes 1st place winner Kyle Parr with his photograph, 'Evening Fields'. A stunning image taken in the early evening, overlooking farmland in the village of Dodworth near the Trans Pennine Trail.
Hundreds of entries were submitted to the competition, showcasing the beauty and stunning landscapes of the borough and were judged by IGPOTY and guest judges Kyte Photography.
As part of their work with the prestigious International Garden Photographer of the Year, Cannon Hall Museum, Park and Gardens are proud to be hosting the 13th Annual IGPOTY competition. The free exhibition is an exciting arrival for the well-loved visitor attraction, as for the very first-time an exhibition will be on display in their stunning outside spaces on all weather outdoor structures. From delicate garden scenes to detailed close-ups of horticulture - the images are truly a sight to behold and a will be even more special with the historic parklands as the backdrop.
Cllr Tim Cheetham, Cabinet Spokesperson for Place (Regeneration and Culture) said: “The response to the International Garden Photographer of the Year – Thirteen exhibition has been phenomenal. It has been a real treat for people to experience such stunning images in the picturesque surroundings of the newly refurbished walled gardens. I am sure people will equally enjoy ‘Beautiful Barnsley’ the complimentary indoor exhibition which really showcases not only the talent of local photographers but also how lucky we are to live in such a gorgeous location.”
