Watch Barnsley town centre come alive this Christmas with a feast of festive fun for all the family, starting with the Christmas lights switch on at Barnsley Town Hall on Wednesday 22 November. The entertainment begins at 5 pm followed by the switch on at 6 pm, with special guests from the popular children’s TV show Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom.
The spectacular annual fireworks display will follow the switch on, lighting up the stunning town hall and illuminating the sky, with Dearne FM there to play everyone’s favourite festive tunes.
It’s a double whammy, as late night shopping launches too, so people can shop until 8 pm in the town centre every Wednesday. Visit The Victorian Arcade and the shops at Experience Barnsley and Cooper Gallery for some unique gift ideas.
Cllr Roy Miller, Cabinet Spokesperson for Place said: “The Barnsley Christmas lights switch on is the town’s flagship family event and marks the start of plenty of festive fun planned for the town centre between now and Christmas. It’s a free event and really is worth coming along to see.”
