Dementia Friendly Barnsley webpage goes live

A new Dementia webpage has been launched this Dementia Week 2018.

In a project sponsored by the charity supported by Cllr Linda Burgess, when she was Mayor of Barnsley, the Barnsley Multi Agency Dementia Group worked to co-produce, manage and deliver the page, which is now available to view at www.dementia-barnsley.info/

The page is Barnsley specific and includes a calendar of events to support people and carers and list of information about dementia services and dementia. Within three clicks, anyone can access information about what’s going on in Barnsley.

There is also a member zone where minutes of multi-agency Dementia meetings will be available.

Cllr Margaret Bruff, Cabinet Spokesperson for People (Safeguarding) said: "This is a great resource for Barnsley residents who have Dementia, as well as their carers. We hope that the multi-agency approach will bring together the wide range of services and support we have throughout the borough.”

Cllr Linda Burgess added: ‘‘The result of this collaborative work is indeed a celebration of how the community and professionals in Barnsley are working together to increase the resilience and awareness of dementia as a whole across the borough.

"It was a pleasure to be able to use my year as Mayor to support such a great way to help people in need of Dementia advice and support, as well as offering them events and activities to attend.”
