Elsecar Park could be the nation’s favourite park with your vote.

Award-winning Elsecar Park is in need of public votes to help it hold on to its title as one of the nation’s favourite parks.

Last year, Elsecar battled it out with over 1,700 parks across the UK to be named as one of the country’s favourite green spaces along with nine other finalists. This year, it will face competition from a record breaking 1,797 parks and green spaces.

The award, organised by Keep Britain Tidy, aims to find the best Green Flag parks in the UK – a status given to exceptionally high-quality green public spaces. Elsecar Park won the Green Flag Award for the tenth time earlier this year for its excellent green spaces which include a reservoir, golf course, café, play area and a new children’s cycle hire scheme.

To be in with a chance of being crowned the winner of the Green Flag People’s Choice Award 2017, Elsecar Park needs as many votes as possible. People can vote online from Friday 1 September until Saturday 30 September. The winner will be announced on Wednesday 11 October.

Cllr Jenny Platts, Cabinet Spokesperson for Communities, said: “It is wonderful to see this beautiful park once again acknowledged in this year’s People’s Choice Award. We know how much our residents enjoy Elsecar Park – it offers something for all the family and deserves this incredible recognition. I’d like to encourage people to take a couple of minutes and vote for it online.”
