Landlords are invited to attend a free event to find out about the help and support available to them in Barnsley.
We support private landlords and letting agents in a number of ways to help make sure their properties are safe and of high quality. This includes helping landlords understand energy efficiency standards, and how they can improve the efficiency of properties. We also help support landlords bring empty properties back into use and provide help in understanding the rules and regulations which apply to landlords.
Landlords across Barnsley are encouraged to sign up to our landlord accreditation scheme called Barnsley RentSmart which provides access to information and support, as well as a space to advertise properties for rent.
Information about all the help and support available to landlords will be available at a special event in the town centre, hosted jointly by Barnsley Council and the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA).
The event is on Wednesday 22 March, 6pm, at DMC 01, County Way, Barnsley, S70 2JW. Doors open at 5.30pm.
Cllr Caroline Makinson, Cabinet Spokesperson for Public Health and Communities, said: “We’re committed to making sure our borough has a variety of housing, so residents can live in the right home for them.
“Private sector landlords are a hugely important part of the housing offer in Barnsley. They account for a fifth of all our housing.
“We want to work as closely as possible with landlords to make sure housing for all residents is the highest quality and the most energy efficient it can be.
“I urge all private landlords to come along to the event and find out more about the support available to them and about our Landlord Accreditation Scheme.”
