Students in Barnsley have been commended by the council’s Cabinet Spokesperson for People (Children) following the announcement of this summer’s A-Level results, which saw a fantastic 99.3 per cent pass rate.
This is once again above the national pass rate of 97.6 per cent.

Barnsley College has seen an increase in their pass rate, with 99.1 per cent of students achieving at least one A* to E pass.
Cllr Margaret Bruff, Cabinet spokesperson for People (Children), said: “The results announced in Barnsley today demonstrate both the hard work and talent of both Penistone Grammar School and Barnsley College students and the dedication of all staff that have supported their learning.
“On behalf of Barnsley Council, I’d like to offer my sincere congratulations to all students at this important milestone in their learning and development.
Our ambition, which is delivered through our Children and Young People’s Trust, is for every young person to achieve their goals - whether through a placement, higher education, or employment. The Trust is working hard to continue to improve the attainment of Barnsley’s children and young people.
“Today marks the first step towards many of our young people’s future careers.”
