As a result of Barnsley moving into Tier 3 restrictions, financial support grants for businesses affected by new regulations will be made available.
Since the pandemic began, Barnsley Council has successfully supported 4,134 businesses financially, by providing £44,968,900 in business grants to protect local industry.
The government scheme, which aims to support businesses that must fully close due to the new restrictions in place, is now available. Any company that is eligible for this scheme will be able to claim for a grant of up to £3,000 over a four-week period. Anybody wanting to make a claim will need to fill out the online form as well as providing supporting documents. Details of eligibility and how to apply for the grant are available on the Barnsley Council website under ‘Local restrictions support grant’.
A discretionary scheme provided by the council will also be available for businesses that can remain open, but whose finances may be affected due to the new Tier 3 restrictions. More details on this scheme will be announced early next week.
Barnsley Council is committed to supporting local businesses during this period, and a number of businesses have already been contacted regarding financial aid. For further advice and guidance, business owners can visit Barnsley Council's 'Local restrictions support grant' webpage or contact Enterprising Barnsley through the live chat facility which can be found on the website.
