Flying into the Cooper Gallery is the latest superhero themed exhibition - escape from reality

They have gone comic book crazy at the Cooper Gallery with the arrival of their second super hero themed exhibition.

Escape from Reality by talented local artist Matthew Shutt, is a masterfully painted body of work, symbolising his childhood and love of comic action figures and memorabilia.

His work will charm visitors of all ages, as the carefree images first observed have hidden delights expertly painted within them…..the trick is for people to spot them.

The stunning paintings will be on display in the Sadler Room from Saturday, 22 June until Saturday, 31 August as part of the comic themed season at the Gallery.

Also on display is KAPOW, award winning, comic book art from illustrators Dean Ormston and Fiona Stephenson.

Cllr Tim Cheetham, Cabinet Spokesperson for Place (Regeneration and Culture) says: “The Cooper Gallery is an exciting place to visit for people of all ages. As well as their outstanding permanent artwork collection - which is the envy of many galleries, it also brings sensational temporary exhibitions such as Escape from Reality. They are ambitious in both attracting new work for the people of the borough to enjoy but also raising the profile of our talented local artists.”
