On Monday, 28 November, Hoyland Library will re-open its doors to the public after undergoing an exciting refurbishment. From next week, residents will be able to see and use the new and improved spaces and facilities.

Hoyland Library has been closed for the past four weeks to allow the refurbishment work to take place, during which the library has been fitted with new carpets, a new reception area, and a new drop-down space to study and work. The children's area has seen the most significant update with a brand-new look and furnishings.

Cllr Caroline Makinson, Cabinet Spokesperson for Public Health and Communities, said: “It’s very exciting to see the new and updated facilities at Hoyland Library.

“We hope that residents in the area will come and see it for themselves and make use of this new space, whether that’s attending one of the activities or events or using the new drop-down space where they can work and study.”

The official opening event will take place on Saturday, 3 December, with many free activities planned between 9.30am and 2pm, including the Amazelab family sessions, Christmas craft activities, a storytelling session by Susan Brownrigg and a goody bag giveaway.

In addition to the improvements at Hoyland Library, Dodworth Library will be another community library undergoing a significant and exciting refurbishment in the new year.
