A proposal to undertake a community consultation exercise on the draft Hoyland West Masterplan Framework will be presented to Barnsley Council’s Cabinet members on Wednesday, 29 April.
The Hoyland West Masterplan Framework will support the development of significant housing and employment growth.
This masterplan framework covers:
- Employment site: ES13 - land west of Sheffield Road
- Housing site: HS57- land at Tankersley Lane
- Relocation of Rockingham Sports facility to land at Parkside, Hoyland
The consultation process, to be held during May 2020, will allow residents to help in the shaping and phasing of the development. It is important the consultation goes ahead now, at an early stage in the development, to ensure this is done comprehensively and with involvement of the local community and its stakeholders.
The report to Cabinet includes revised plans for the consultation due to the current situation relating to COVID-19, to make sure that people aren’t excluded and still have the opportunity to shape the Masterplan Framework. This will include a number of ways to access information online and for residents to give their views.
Subject to Cabinet approval, the proposal is for the consultation to last for a period of 6 weeks and will be publicised over the coming weeks.
