Barnsley Council is delighted to be joining the Jobcentre Plus in hosting a job fair at Goldthorpe Library. The event will be from 10am – 12pm on Wednesday 18 September. Everyone is welcome to come along and learn more about the many opportunities available in Barnsley.
The fair will cater to all residents across Barnsley. The event will offer a whole host of information, expert advice and support, offering residents a fantastic opportunity to maximise their chances of gaining employment.
There will be professionals on hand for advice on benefits and welfare, as well as recruitment agencies and employers with the latest job opportunities. Training providers will also be there to help residents learn about courses that are available to increase employability prospects.
This is the fourth year the event has run, and there will be people there who have enjoyed employment success following the previous years’ events. Residents will have the opportunity to hear first-hand from those people who’ll be sharing their experiences about their journey into employment.
Cllr Jenny Platts, Cabinet Spokesperson for Adults and Communities, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for Barnsley residents to achieve their potential. Having access to the knowledge, training and jobs available helps build a brighter future for our residents and the borough as a whole.
“I’d encourage anyone looking for work, or to advance their career, to come along and chat to the different organisations that will be there on the day.”
A spokesperson from DWP said: “Jobcentre Plus are involved in holding events in the local community to offer a diverse range of both work and training opportunities for all, regardless of age, ability or gender.”
