Saturday 8 July is a Family First occasion, as this year’s Mayor's Parade is all about celebrating family.
The Mayor’s Parade is one of the highlights of the year, as people get together to celebrate this annual civic tradition; they can take part in the parade or just spectate, have fun and celebrate Barnsley.
Entrants are encouraged to embrace the family theme but all ideas are welcome, the most important thing is that people take part.
Entries are already coming in thick and fast from organisations across the borough because the parade provides such an excellent opportunity for them to promote what they do to the thousands of people who attend the parade.
It’s set to be an entertaining Saturday, as the National Strongman Car Deadlift Championship is also taking place in the town centre, alongside Independent Retailer Month; celebrating Barnsley’s unique range of independent retailers.
With entertainment and family activities lined-up it’s going to be a fun day out for all the family.
Several town centre roads and the upper County Way car park will be closed for all or part of the day to allow the event to take place. These will be reopened as soon as possible after the parade to minimise disruption.
