Landlords and letting agents across Barnsley are invited to attend a free event on Tuesday 12 February, between 5pm and 8pm where they’ll have the opportunity to find out about the range of expert advice, help and support available in letting out their properties.
The event is being hosted by Barnsley Council in partnership with the National Landlords Association (NLA) to share the vast amount of support available to landlords, agents and prospective landlords. This includes advice in making sure their properties meet appropriate safety standards and are maintained to an adequate standard.
Empty home owners are also urged to attend the event for advice on how to bring their empty property back into use and for support in becoming a responsible landlord.
There will be a number of information stalls at the event, including: Housing Options, Humankind Housing, guest speakers including NLA and Department of Work & Pensions and the opportunity to talk to members of the Empty Homes team, Berneslai Property Management Service and Neighbourhood Services.
Cllr Roy Miller, Cabinet Spokesperson for Place, said: “We’re strongly committed to driving housing growth across the borough making sure there are enough homes available to meet our growing population. Equally important is our priority to make sure the housing available is of a high standard.
“One way we’re achieving this is by supporting private landlords and letting agents to make sure their properties are managed in accordance with the necessary standards to provide good quality housing across the borough to residents. Holding events such as this are a great way for us to promote the services and support we offer to make sure our landlords are as responsible as they can be – including those considering becoming a landlord”.
The free event will takes place at the Metrodome Leisure Complex and the doors will open at 5pm. Guests are asked to book their place through Eventbrite or email: email@example.com. For more information about the event, please call: 01226 774047.
This event is linked to Town Spirit, our new way of working better together. We believe, that if everyone in Barnsley does just one thing, we can make our borough a more welcoming place to live, work, invest and visit.
We’re committed to #BuildIt by creating more and better homes. To help us achieve this, we need people to #OwnIt by reporting empty homes and working with us to provide good quality housing to tenants.
