Launch your way to self-employment with the Start-up Saturday

The hardest part about starting up your own business is starting out in the first place. To help aspiring entrepreneurs and people looking to go self-employed, the team at Launchpad Barnsley, part of the Enterprising Barnsley team of Barnsley Council have set up ‘Start-up Saturdays’.

Over two sessions, the team will be covering key topics to get your business off the ground.  It doesn’t matter what your idea is or what your circumstances are – the team are here to help you turn your ideas into reality – no matter how big or small. The best part, it’s completely free with lunch and refreshments provided.

Part 1: Business Planning - Saturday 5 October 2019 – 9:30am - 4:30pm

Part one is all about getting you from idea to implementation. We will cover all the essentials of business planning – where to begin, what research you need to do and how to identify the actions you need to take.

Part 2: Marketing & Promotion - Saturday 26 October 2019 - 9:30am - 4:30pm

Part two is more flexible; you can attend all day or just come to the sessions you want to attend. We will also have 1-2-1 appointments with a Business Advisor available if you’d prefer to speak to someone in person.

10:00am: Developing a Marketing Strategy

1:00pm: Creating a Brand for your Business & Pitching Successfully

3:00pm: Open Networking – A chance to chat with the attendees & network

1-2-1 Appointments: Want to discuss your ideas with a Business Advisor? We will have appointments available throughout the day. These will need to be booked in advance & will be given on a first come first served basis. “The Start-up Saturdays are a fantastic initiative to help those who have the drive and passion to start up a business but need some support to get it off the ground to make their idea and passion a success.”

Everyone who attends will also be registered on our Launchpad Programme so you can get support after the event too. Based at the Digital Media Centre the Launchpad service provides a dedicated team who will support anyone in Barnsley who is looking to start a business, no matter what stage their idea or business is at. Everyone receives an initial one hour appointment with a professional Business Advisor to assess their needs and develop a package of support.
