The production of a Local Plan for the borough is now at an advanced stage.
Following four stages of Local Plan examination hearings, Barnsley Council has now received advice from the Inspector that a number of changes to the plan, known as ‘main modifications’ are considered necessary to address issues of soundness.
A public consultation is underway from today, Friday 13 July. It invites people to comment on the main modifications for the Inspector’s consideration. The Inspector is also seeking views on the proposed omission of sites identified for housing and safeguarded land during the examination consultation. Comments can also be made on the associated sustainability appraisal and habitats regulation assessment.
This stage of consultation which runs until Tuesday 28 August is only on the main modifications, the proposed omission of sites identified for housing and safeguarded land during the examination consultation and the associated sustainability appraisal and habitats regulation assessment.
It is not necessary to repeat comments already made on other aspects of the plan, or make comments seeking further changes to the plan as any such comments will not be considered.
The council is also publicising a schedule of additional changes to the text and minor changes to the policies maps of the Local Plan to provide minor updates and clarification. These changes do not form part of the consultation but are provided for completeness. Once finalised, the Inspector’s report will be presented to Full Council. If the report concludes that the plan is legally compliant and sound Full Council will be asked to formally adopt it.
The proposed main modifications consultation will start at 10am on Friday 13 July until 5pm on Tuesday 28 August 2018.
Please note that any comments will be made available publicly and attributed to the person’s name. Please use one method of response to avoid duplication.
