Market Position Statement for Barnsley

Next Wednesday, cabinet will look to approve the new Adult Social Care Market Position Statement (MPS). The MPS will outline commissioning plans for adult care services and offer new and existing providers a clear view of the types of things we will be commissioning for Barnsley.

In Adult Social Care, we’re committed to developing and supporting a market that can provide safe, effective, high-quality care and support to the people of Barnsley. Our Market Position Statement supports this by:

  • Linking local plans and our commissioning intentions.
  • Giving an overview of the current situation in Barnsley.
  • Describing our strategic priorities.
  • Allowing us to work together with providers and stakeholders to build and shape provision in Barnsley.

We all want to stay as independent as possible for as long as possible; therefore, our priorities are to ensure services are available at the right time, in the right place and that people experience high-quality support when they need it. Working together with the community and those that deliver care and support, we aim to achieve just that.

Cllr Jenny Platts, Cabinet Spokesperson for Adults and Communities, said: “We’re committed to supporting all our residents in Barnsley to making sure that the right services and support are available for those who need it. In highlighting the current situation in Barnsley, our commissioning intentions and approaches, we’re working alongside providers to make sure that the right support and care is in place to help you live a good life in Barnsley.”
