TV celebrity baker and chef, Nadiya Hussain, will be appearing at Elsecar’s annual Flavours Food Festival on Sunday, 15 October.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ champion will be cooking up a storm at her live cookery demonstrations, which will take place on the second day of the spectacular event. At the performances which last approximately forty five minutes, she will create a selection of her very own recipes which people can recreate at home.
Since winning, Nadiya has become a columnist and author as well as a regular reporter and presenter. Nadiya is also about to present her own cookery show, Nadiya's British Food Adventure which will air from 17 July on BBC 2 and will also co-present a major new show, The Big Family Cooking Showdown later this year.
Due to the popularity of last year’s festival, which welcomed over 4,000 visitors, this year’s event will take place over two fun packed days. On Saturday, 14 and Sunday, 15 October the unique historical site of Elsecar will be transformed into a bustling food and drinks market, offering a wide variety of tasty treats and delicious beverages.
At the family event there will be stalls where local and national food producers will be displaying their high quality produce as well as a selection of street food and live entertainment. Visitors will be able to browse, sample and even buy the tempting treats on offer.
While there, people can also explore the original Earl Fitzwilliam's Workshops, now converted into a series of independent shops, antiques centre, play area and quaint cafes.
Cllr Roy Miller, Cabinet spokesperson for Place, said: “Last year’s event was a huge success and we are certain that this year it will be even better. We are delighted to welcome a chef, columnist, presenter and author of Nadiya’s calibre to Barnsley and look forward to see what exciting dishes she will be serving up on the day.”
