DFG's enable children and adults living in private sector residential properties who require home adaptations to continue to live in their own home independently.
Over the last year the DFG team have ensured over 200 major adaptations were completed with an average waiting time of six months however waiting times for Level Access Shower adaptations and bathroom adaptations have been longer than we would hope for.
Cabinet has now agreed to the establishment of a framework agreement which will enable multiple service providers to carry out these adaptations to properties of disabled and vulnerable people more expediently and this will help to significantly reduce the waiting times.
Councillor Jenny Platts, Cabinet Spokesperson for Communities, said: “We are taking action to reduce the length of time applicants have to wait for an assessment and for essential adaptations.
“We welcome the introduction of this new framework contract which allows us to provide much quicker and efficient services to help vulnerable people to achieve as independent a life as possible.”
