Barnsley Council has recruited two new Executive Directors, following a rigorous recruitment process involving partners, employees and young people, which ended with a final decision made by Elected Members.
The council will welcome Shokat Lal as Executive Director of Core Services, and Mel John-Ross as Executive Director of Children's Services.
The recruitment follows the news that two existing Executive Directors, Rachel Dickinson and Andrew Frosdick, are retiring later this year.
Cllr Sir Steve Houghton CBE, Leader of Barnsley Council, said: "I'm pleased to welcome Shokat and Mel into their new roles as Executive Directors for Barnsley Council.
"Our recruitment process was robust to ensure that we have the right people in place to help us drive Barnsley forward into the future."
Shokat Lal joins the council from Rotherham Council where he is currently Assistant Chief Executive.
Mel John-Ross will step up from her role as Service Director for Children's Social Care and Safeguarding.
