As part of Volunteer Month celebrations, the North East Area Team are welcoming the launch of Age UK Barnsley’s new weekly ‘Feel Well Group’ for the over fifties. The new group will meet at Cudworth Library every Thursday afternoon from 12.00pm to 2.30pm.
It’s a wonderful opportunity for local people to get together, make new friends, enjoy some gentle exercise and activities, and get information and advice. The group will also enjoy a healthy lunch together.
Steph Colbridge, Social Inclusion Worker for the ‘Together in Cudworth’ project, said: “I am thrilled that we are able to bring people together for fun activities and friendship. It can make a real, positive difference to people’s lives.”
Cllr Jenny Platts, Cabinet Spokesperson for Communities, said: “Groups like ‘Feel Well’ are really important to our communities. There are lots of people that for different reasons find themselves lonely and isolated. These types of activities are a great opportunity for people to get out, meet new people and try something new.”
