No need to walk to find the wild side - Join the Barnsley Backyard Club!

Barnsley Backyard Club launches on Saturday, 25 April an exciting new opportunities for children and young people to take a wildlife adventure in their own backyard!

The new weekly sessions have been organised by Discover Dearne and Oak Forrest School, to encourage people to connect with stunning outdoor spaces and learn about the wildlife on offer in the Dearne Valley, whilst staying at home.

Part of Barnsley Museums digital programme, the sessions will bring the excitement of the great outdoors to the families of South Yorkshire and beyond.  Nature has never been so vital during these unprecedented times and families can connect with nature in even the smallest of outdoor spaces, and right outside their homes.

Each Saturday morning, Founder and outdoor manager of Oak Forrest School, Melv Mills will be leading fantastic activities with bush craft skills, wildlife knowledge and bags of enthusiasm! Activities will include, den making, bug hotel building, bucket pond creating, wildlife spotting and much more.

Oak Forrest School is a not for profit organisation which works with local communities around the Dearne Valley and are committed to investing expertise and resources into bush craft and outdoor education.
