Norse support for park success

Barnsley Norse, the official Park Partner of Wilthorpe Park, has pledged to support the park Friends group for another year, following a hugely successful partnership arrangement.

The company donated two thousand pounds to the park back in August 2016 and has actively supported the parks programme of community activities. A number of improvements have taken place since then, which has made a real difference to the area.

A Friends of Wilthorpe Park spokesperson said: “Norse have been brilliant with their support, not only with their Parks Partnership donation but also with their continuous support at our events by donating and presenting prizes – this has included Amazon vouchers for our Halloween event and the biggest ever Easter Egg at our Easter Eggstravaganza.

With last year’s donation, the Friends group were able to purchase much-needed gardening equipment, six Yorkshire variety fruit trees, a wildlife information sign, a new planter for one of the entrances to the park and numerous plants.”

Jo Taylor, Operations Director, Barnsley Norse, added: “We’re delighted to support Wilthorpe Park for another year, it’s been great to see the hard work that has gone into further improving the park, and also the local community enjoying the facilities.”

There was further good news recently with Wilthorpe Park also receiving a Public Open Spaces – Silver Gilt, at the Yorkshire in Bloom Awards.

A great effort by all involved.

Other parks across the borough are currently available for sponsorship.
