Wombwell Post Office is on the move to restore a full-time Post Office to the town.
It will move from Wombwell Post Office, where it has operated since January to the former Yorkshire Bank building, 56 High Street, Wombwell, S73 8DA.
There will be two Post Office counters and the opening hours will be Monday to Friday: 9am – 5.30pm; Saturday: 9am – 12.30pm.
Wombwell Post Office will close at its current location on Monday 17 May and open at the new location on Tuesday 18 May at 1pm.
In the interim alternative branches will include:
- Brampton Post Office, 63 Knollbeck Lane, Brampton, S73 0TW
- Jump Post Office, 18 Wentworth Road, Jump, S74 0JY
- Winterwell Post Office, 59 Melton High Street, Wath-upon-Dearne, S63 3RQ
Ian Johnson, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said: “We are delighted that Wombwell will soon have a full-time Post Office once again as we know how important a Post Office is to a community. We are very grateful to Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council for allowing us space within Wombwell Library, and to the current Postmaster at our Birdwell branch who stepped up at short notice and operated the service for us. This allowed us to maintain Post Office services upon the resignation of the previous postmaster.”
