Barnsley Council is inviting local residents and businesses to give feedback on two new transport improvement schemes in Darton and Elsecar.
We are proposing works to improve accessibility at both Darton and Elsecar stations, as well as improve connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists. The projects are supported by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) Transforming Cities Fund (TCF).
Cllr Robert Frost, Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: “Our borough is a place that fosters and grows ambition, enabling everyone to be the best they can be.
“We need to make sure we continue to improve transport infrastructure in Barnsley so we can continue to grow our economy and create more jobs, while at the same time working towards a greener future to protect our borough and our planet for future generations.
“We want these station improvements to enhance the experience of residents and visitors travelling by rail, either for work or leisure, making travel a better experience for everyone. These improvements are all part of our commitment to active travel and supporting people to cycle and walk to their destination wherever possible.
“Please take a moment to visit Barnsley.gov.uk/TransportProjects where you can take part in the online consultation.”
