Barnsley residents now need to apply and pay for copies of birth, death and marriage certificates online.
The council are continuing to make their services easy to access. Using online services is more convenient than standing in a queue or calling to ask for information or apply for a service. Whether you have a computer, a smart-phone or a tablet, you can visit our website anytime and in a place to suit you. Anyone who needs help getting online can visit their local library.
Residents must note that copy certificates can only be supplied for events that have taken place in Barnsley. If the event was registered in another town, they need to contact the relevant registrar office.
All Records which have been registered in Barnsley between 1837 to the present day can be ordered online. If you are looking for records before 1837, you can contact our archives service in the Experience Barnsley Museum.
Cllr Jenny Platts, Cabinet Spokesperson for Communities, said: “I am pleased to see further online services available for residents to access. We are continuing our programme to improve customer service and offer more online, making it easier and quicker to access council services in Barnsley and meet customer’s needs.”
