Road closures for Barnsley’s Big Weekend

Town centre road closures will be in place for Barnsley’s Big Weekend on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 July.

Road closures will be in place to allow the Mayor’s Parade to safely pass through the town centre.

The annual event will begin at 1pm on Saturday 13 July, and to minimise disruption as much as possible, the following road closures and parking restrictions will be implemented:

12.45am – 2.15pm

• Sadler Gate
• St Mary’s Gate
• Church Street
• Eastgate
• Regents Street
• Market Hill
• Hanson Street
• Regents Street South
• Cheapside
• Shambles Street
• Royal Street
• Eldon Street
• Midland Street
• Queen Street
• Mayday Green
• Kendray Street
• Westgate
• Market Street
• Mayday Green
• Hanson Street

On Street Parking Restrictions:

All on-street parking bays in the town centre will be suspended from 5am, 13 July on the following streets:

• Eldon Street
• Regents Street
• Church Street
• St Mary’s Place
• Sadler Gate
• Market Hill
• Eastgate

Parts of Upper County Way Car Park will be closed to the public until approximately 3.30pm.

Additional information:

Access to the Midland Street Taxi Rank will be restricted throughout the event. An alternative pick up/drop off point will be created on Eldon Street as previously done for the Tour de Yorkshire.

Barnsley Town Centre 5k - Road Race and Fun Run

To enable the inaugural 5K race to be safely delivered from 9.15am and to minimise disruption, road closures and parking restrictions will be implemented as detailed below.

8.45am – 11.30am

On-street parking restrictions:

All on-street parking bays in the town centre will be suspended from 5am, 14 July on the following streets.

• St Mary’s Place

• Island Corner

Additional information:

Access to the Midland Street Taxi Rank will be restricted throughout the event. An alternative pick up/drop off point will be created on Eldon Street as previously done for the Tour de Yorkshire.
