A number of learners will take part in a celebration event at Thurnscoe Family Centre on Tuesday, 27 November, from 1pm to 2pm, to mark their achievement in gaining their level 2 Food Hygiene certificate.
The learners are all part of the Rose Voucher scheme. Rose Vouchers are available to pregnant women and families on low incomes and worth £3 per child every week (double if the child is under one year of age). Vouchers can only be redeemed at markets that sell fresh fruit and vegetables. This means that the scheme not only helps young families but also supports Barnsley’s local markets.
They have taken part in the cook and eat classes made available as part of the scheme, which has led to further learning. The certificate, which requited a full day’s training and a test will assist with seeking employment in the catering industry.
Funding for the Rose Voucher scheme has been provided by the Big Lottery Fund and Alexandra Rose Charity.

This news is linked to Town Spirit. We want to work better together. If everyone in Barnsley does just one thing, together we can make our borough a more welcoming place where people want to live, work and visit.
We’re committed to #AchieveIt by making sure families have access to the support they need at the earliest possible stage. #OwnIt by taking up the help on offer and working with us and our partners to access a wide range of service on offer.
