As Barnsley Markets prepares to reopen its doors on Wednesday, 17 June; Barnsley Museums and Archives celebrates the towns long standing love of markets and shopping by taking people back in time on a virtual trip.
Beginning on Saturday, 6 June and taking place every Saturday throughout the month people can travel back through the decades as they relive highpoints in the market’s history from the comfort of their home.
The heart of the town since 1249 the market is constantly evolving; throughout the day people will be treated to photos of memorable characters, shops, moments and events all of which showcase the immense pride and love that people hold for the town.
Barnsley Museums have delved deep into their archives to capture key moments which they will share via their social media channels throughout the day recreating a day out in town using virtual methods.
People should be ready to board the Experience Barnsley Express at 9.30am for a very special trip down memory lane.
