The Mayor of Barnsley, Cllr Linda Burgess will be celebrating Barnsley’s young musical talent as part of this year’s mayoral theme ‘The Best of Barnsley’ in the next event to support people living with or affected by, dementia.
The Mayor’s Musical Stars charity concert will be held on Friday 31 March, 6.30pm to 8pm at The Civic to celebrate the town’s next generation of musicians. Performances on the night will come from artists including the Real Music Centre, Barnsley Town Concert Band, Springvale Pop Band, talented soloists from the borough and a special appearance from the internationally acclaimed, award-winning Barnsley Youth Choir.
Tickets can be purchased from The Civic at a cost of just £10 per person and include a welcome drink and an exclusive opportunity to meet and greet the Mayor from 6pm before the concert. The evening will be raising funds for the Mayor’s charity which has so far funded projects and events including a pop-up memory café and interactive poetry sessions for those affected by dementia.
The Mayor of Barnsley Cllr Linda Burgess said: “After the overwhelming success of our recent Best of Barnsley evening, which featured some of Barnsley’s most famous female faces, we wanted to give our younger stars the chance to shine.
“The money raised through ticket sales will fund more events and projects for those living with dementia, a cause that is close to my heart and something that is making a real difference to those affected. We’re really proud of the talented people in Barnsley and we want everyone to come along and show their support for our next generation of musical stars whilst supporting such a good cause.”
