Tour de Yorkshire roadshows heading to Barnsley

Multiple Tour de Yorkshire roadshows are on the way to Barnsley to get everybody in gear for another spectacular event in our town on Friday 3 May.

Welcome to Yorkshire is inviting Town centre residents and businesses of Barnsley to the first of these Tour de Yorkshire roadshows on Monday 14 January which will take place at the Barnsley Civic.

The roadshows give a detailed view of the route and provide local residents, businesses and community groups with all the information they need to embrace the fifth edition.

Welcome to Yorkshire is joining forces with local authorities to run the shows at a variety of venues along the 2019 route and information will be shared on how to get involved, build excitement and maximise the benefits of worldwide media coverage between 2-5 May. Find full details and register to attend the roadshow coming to Barnsley here.

Barnsley Council is also hosting its own roadshow at Mapplewell Village hall on Tuesday 22 January at 6pm to speak to local residents and businesses to encourage everybody to get involved with the event and to go over the finer details on what to expect in order to make the most of the opportunity.

Details on road closures, the annual sportive and Welcome to Yorkshire’s various cycling legacy projects will be discussed, along with ways people can become official Tour Makers or take part in the ever popular best dressed and land art competitions. Cllr Roy Miller, Cabinet Spokesperson for place, said: “These events are a good opportunity for businesses, community groups, schools or everybody else to come along and get a clear understanding of how Friday 3 May will run. It offers a wide range of people to share information regarding our town and this year’s Tour de Yorkshire, especially following the success of last year.

“We’re delighted to be hosting a start for the women’s and men’s races once again and it will open up a lot of exciting opportunities for our community, local businesses and residents to get involved. We have a lot to offer here in Barnsley and this roadshow is a fantastic way to ensure we make the most of it.”

A second independent Roadshow for Royston is currently being organised and will be publicised once all details are confirmed.
