Keeping historic buildings and their surroundings in good order can be difficult, but many hands make light work. On Tuesday 12 July, Penistone Clean and Tidy Team, along with members of St Saviour's Church and the Penistone Countryside Volunteers are inviting people to join them in making a difference to the area around St Saviour's Church, the adjacent public bridleway and Quarry open space.
The event starts at 9.30am on Manchester Road in front of St Saviour's Church and will finish at approximately 2:30pm. Volunteers need to bring lunch if they are planning to stop all day. Free hot drinks and cake provided, along with gloves, tools etc.
The list of activities include:
- removing the ivy from the dry stone wall along Manchester road to help protect this historical feature
cutting back vegetation and Rhododendron from the quarry open space
- tidying up the bridleway surface.
