Vote for your favourite park

Barnsley has two Green Flag award-winning parks and green spaces and now the public are asked to choose their favourite in the People’s Choice Awards.

This year an army of experts awarded a record breaking 2,061 Green Flag Awards to the UK’s very best parks and green spaces, including Cannon Hall Museum, Park and Gardens, and Elsecar Park. The scheme is now asking the public to vote for their favourites.

You can find all the award-winning green spaces on the Green Flag Award website. To vote for your favourite, simply find it on the winners map and click the vote button. You can vote for Cannon Hall and Elsecar Park.

Once you’ve voted, please encourage others to get involved too. Voting is now open and closes 25 November, with the top ten winning sites announced on 3 December.

Cllr Chris Lamb, Cabinet Spokesperson for Environment and Transportation, said: “We have fantastic parks and green spaces right across our borough and we know how much people value them now more than ever.

“I hope the public will show how much they appreciate the staff and volunteers who take such good care of our green spaces and go online to vote in the People’s Choice awards. Elsecar made the top ten last year and we hope it will again, maybe joined by Cannon Hall Museum, Parks and Gardens.”

Paul Todd, International Green Flag Award Manager, said: “This year we have all seen the importance of our precious parks and green spaces. The People’s Choice Award is an opportunity to show how much your favourite park means to you. Make your voice heard and vote now.”
