Barnsley Council is working in partnership with Age UK to hold the Age-Friendly Barnsley Conference on Friday 6 October at Priory Campus, Lundwood from 9.30am till 3.30pm.
Residents are encouraged to share their ideas and experiences to help create a community that will enhance the quality of life as people age in the borough.
They are keen to hear from individuals who have experience of what it’s like growing older in Barnsley such as people over fifty, residents who care for a family member or work with older members of our communities. They’d also like to speak to individuals who work in organisations with older adults, who can highlight how systems and facilities can be improved.
The conference will be attended by key speakers and will host workshops to focus on topics like outdoor spaces and buildings, transport, housing and employment.
Cllr Jenny Platts, Cabinet Spokesperson for Communities, said: “We are pleased to be supporting Age UK with their Age Friendly Barnsley Conference. It is important for us to hear from local people about their experiences and where changes or adjustments can be made, as we work together to improve the lives of older members of our communities.”
