Working together in SEND

We want to make sure we are putting children, young people and their parents and carers at the heart of everything we do. This includes how we shape our services and how we make sure we have got enough services to meet our local need; we call this co-production.

Our SEND participation team wants to know if it would be helpful to have something that sets out how we work together with our SEND community - a clear structure with clear expectations.

We want to make sure everyone, including children, young people and their parents and carers, alongside our services and staff, understand what co-production is, how we do it and how we work together.

We can’t do this without the active involvement of parents carers, children and young people who receive support for their special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

A survey has been created to find out initial views on:

  • If we should have an agreed plan in Barnsley for how we work together with parents, carers, children and young people with SEND.
  • How this would work best.
  • How we can make sure as many people as possible are aware of what’s happening and how to get involved.

We would like to seek as many views as possible about how we will work together and agree on what positive co-production should look like in Barnsley.

The survey is available at surveys.barnsley.gov.uk/s/SENDWorkingTogether/ until Sunday 21 May. It is anonymous and data about individuals will not be gathered.

Anyone requiring support to fill in the survey, or an alternative format is asked to contact SENDWorkingTogether@barnsley.gov.uk or call 07733 314775.
