PUBLIC PATHS CREATION ORDER 2019

On 4 October 2022 the Secretary of State for Environment Food & Rural Affairs confirmed both the above-named Orders with modifications. The effect of the Orders as confirmed is to:

(i) extinguish part of public footpath no. 14 Wombwell which commences on the western boundary of Broomhill roundabout at grid reference 4195/0240 and proceeds west for a distance of 9 metres to grid reference 4194/0240 ;

(ii) extinguish an undefined footpath which commences at a point 9 metres west of the western boundary of Broomhill roundabout at grid reference 4194/0240 and proceeds north along an access track for a distance of 35 metres to grid reference 4194/0244;

(iii) create a public footpath 4 m wide commencing at Highgate at grid reference 4194/0246 and proceeding generally south for 55 metres to join Wombwell public footpath no 14 at grid reference 4193/0241; and

(iv) create a public footpath 1.5 m wide commencing at A6195 to the south west of Broomhill roundabout at grid reference 4195/0236 and proceeds generally south for 120 metres to join Wombwell public bridleway no 51 at grid reference 4195/0224;

as shown on the Order maps.

Copies of the confirmed Orders and maps may be seen free of charge on the Council’s website at https://www.barnsley.gov.uk/public-notices/, at the Library at the Lightbox, 1 The Glassworks, Barnsley and at the Branch Library, Church Street, Darfield, during normal business hours.

Both Orders came into effect on 12 October 2022 but if a person aggrieved by the Orders wants to question their validity, or that of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 (as amended), or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Orders, he or she may under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act within six weeks from the date of publication of this notice make an application to the High Court.
