Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
Learners who want a qualification to work in a school environment with pupils.
Length of course
1 year of 4 hours a week, plus 1 day a week on placement.
It covers the age range from birth to 19 years and is made up of mandatory units, based on knowledge and skills. Topics covered include child development, health and safety, the national curriculum, safeguarding, personal development and many others relevant to working in a school environment.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but you'll need to be at least 19 years of age and have a good standard of English.
Work in a real work environment
You'll need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement in a school, as you'll need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
If you're under 24 and don't have a full level 2 qualification or are on certain benefits you may get fee reduction or remission.
