Learners who want a progression course into employment in school or who are already employed and need a qualification at level 3.
Length of course
18 months of 4 hours a week plus 1 day a week in placement
It covers the age range from birth to 19 years and is made up of mandatory units which are based on a knowledge and skills. Topics covered include child development, health and safety, the national curriculum, safeguarding, personal development and many others relevant to working in a school environment.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but you'll need to be at least 19 years of age and have a good standard of English. You'll also need to have at least 6 months experience of working regularly in a school environment
You'll need to already be working, volunteering or on a practical placement in a school, to show competence in both knowledge and skills.

You may get a fee reduction or remission if you're under 24 and don't have a full level 2 qualification, or are on certain benefits.
