City & Guilds Award/Certificate for IT Users 4249 Entry Level 3
This 12 week course is designed for learners who are new to using ICT and wish to develop their knowledge of using Microsoft applications. Completion of the course leads to a nationally recognised qualification.
Length of course
3 hours a week for 12 weeks
To achieve the qualification, you'll need to complete tasks from a range of modules including:
- file management (mandatory)
- word processing software
- using the internet
- using email
- presentation software
- spreadsheet software
- desktop publishing software
- database software
These courses are designed to be accessible to learners who are entirely new to using ICT, so no prior experience or knowledge is required. Mouse and keyboard skills would be desirable.

How to apply
You'll need to book a pre-course assessment before you can start the course, to make sure you have the necessary entry skills to complete the course within the allocated time.
At the appointment you'll be able to discuss your needs with one of our tutors and will also complete a short IT skills assessment. Assessments take place at Wellington House in Barnsley town centre and last about 45 minutes.
