City and Guilds Award/Certificate for IT Users Level 1
This fast track course is designed for learners who want to build on their existing experience and basic knowledge to improve their understanding of Microsoft applications. It's a good step towards further education or employment and allows you to achieve a Level 1 qualification in 8 weeks.
Length of course
6.75 hours a week for 8 weeks (5.75 hours alternate weeks)
To achieve the Certificate (13 credits) you'll need to complete the following modules:
- improving productivity using IT (3 credits)
- word processing (3 credits)
- spreadsheet software (3 credits)
- presentation software (3 credits)
- using the internet (1 credit)
The course is a natural progression from an entry level IT qualification or for learners with existing IT skills. A basic understanding of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications would be an advantage.
The cost of the course is £205.82 which includes all tuition, materials, and registration fees with the Awarding Body.

How to apply
You'll need to book a pre-course assessment before you can start the course, to make sure you have the necessary entry skills to complete the course within the allocated time.
At the appointment you'll be able to discuss your needs with one of our tutors and will also complete a short IT skills assessment. Assessments take place at Wellington House in Barnsley town centre and last about 45 minutes.
