City and Guilds Award/Certificate for IT Users Level 1

This qualification is designed for learners who want to build on their existing experience and basic knowledge to improve their understanding of Microsoft applications and improve their IT skills. It's a good step towards further education or employment.

The course is also suitable for learners who have completed an entry level ICT qualification and want to further develop their computer skills.

Length of course

 2.5 hours a week for 28 weeks

Course content

To achieve the Award (9 credits), you'll need to complete three of the following modules:

  • word processing (3 credits)
  • spreadsheet software (3 credits)
  • presentation software (3 credits)
  • desktop publishing software (3 credits)
  • using the internet (3 credits)
  • using email (2 credits)

To achieve the Certificate (13 credits), you'll need to complete five of the following modules:

  • improving productivity using IT (3 credits) (mandatory)
  • word processing (3 credits)
  • spreadsheet software (3 credits)
  • presentation software (3 credits)
  • desktop publishing software (3 credits)
  • using the internet (3 credits)
  • using email (2 credits)

Entry requirements

The course is a natural progression from an entry level IT qualification or for learners with existing IT skills. 

Course fees

The cost of the course is £263.82 which includes all tuition, materials, and registration fees with the awarding body.
