OCR Award in Life and Living Skills (Entry Level)

This course is designed to develop the ICT skills of learners who are unemployed and looking for work with a focus of promoting independent use of email, and being able to surf the internet safely, effectively and efficiently.

This recognised qualification is a stepping stone for further courses at entry level 3.

Length of course

3 hours over 5 weeks

Course content

Learners will:

  • access a word processing application and understand the basics of creating, saving, recalling, editing and printing documents
  • know how to use email to communicate and apply for job vacancies
  • understand the difference between uploading and downloading
  • send and receive attachments

Entry requirements

This course has been designed to be accessible to learners who are new to using ICT. No prior experience or knowledge is required.

Course fees

The course is free for all learners.

How to apply 

You'll need to book a pre-course assessment before you can start the course, to make sure you have the necessary entry skills to complete the course within the allocated time.

At the appointment you'll be able to discuss your needs with one of our tutors and will also complete a short IT skills assessment. Assessments take place at Wellington House in Barnsley town centre and last about 45 minutes.
