Adult Skills and Community Learning
This course is suitable for parents or volunteers looking to work in childcare or in an early years setting. It's an ideal first qualification if you're returning to study or if you'd like to build on your existing skills.
It covers basic child development, the role of the childcare worker, the structure of the setting and the curriculum.
Learning from the course will help you choose your path of training and employment if you decide to move on to a career in childcare or help to run a group.
Course details
This course is delivered in three ways:
Classroom based
- 10 weeks of 3 hours a week
Online delivery
- 10 weeks. 1 x 1.5 hour online session plus individual tutor interactions
- 60 - 120 minutes of homework tasks to be completed each week
- Individual tutor interactions as needed
Distance learning
- Individual workbooks and tasks posted each week with telephone/ text/ email support from a tutor.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but you should have a good standard of English.
