This course is ideal if you are looking to work with children between birth and 5 years, and gain knowledge of working with children up to 7 years. You do not need to have previous experience or qualifications in working with children to undertake this course.
The aim is to provide you with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years.
The course content meets the Department for Education’s (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but learners will need to be at least 19 years of age and have or be working at English at level 1. A DBS check is also required for this course.
This course is delivered in three ways:
36 weeks of 3.5 hours a week, plus assessment tasks at home
- 36 weeks. 1 x 2 hour weekly online session plus individual tutor interactions
- 60 - 120 minutes of homework tasks to be completed each week
- Individual tutor interactions as needed
- Individual workbooks and tasks posted each week with telephone/ text/ email support from a tutor.
Work in a real work environment
You'll need to be working, volunteering, or on a practical placement, as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
If you're under 23 and don't have a full Level 2 qualification, or if you're on certain benefits, you may get a fee reduction or remission.
