Adult Skills and Community Learning
This taster course is appropriate for a wide range of people with an interest in raising their own understanding of how children develop their skills as they play. It would complement study in a range of areas, for example, health and social care, early years and teaching assistants.
It may also be particularly useful for those working within the voluntary and community sector and for parents who would like to support their children’s learning.
This course will show you the different areas of learning and how they are supported through play and how to make the most of toys and activities.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but you will need a good standards of English and the ability to learn about technical language.
Course details
This course is delivered in two ways:
Classroom based
- 5 weeks of 2.5 hours a week, plus minor research tasks at home
Online delivery
- 5 weeks. 1 x 2.5 hours online session plus individual tutor interactions
- Homework tasks to be completed each week
- Individual tutor interactions as needed
What do you need?

You will need a notepad and pen and access to a phone for all courses.

For classroom-based courses you will also need access to email and the internet.

For online courses, you will need a device which has a webcam and sound and is able to access the following apps:
