Adult Skills and Community Learning

This course is for learners who want an introductory course to working with children in a nursery or school, and who are not yet ready to start a full qualification.

3 hours a week for 5 weeks

Course content

This qualification covers basic child development, the role of the childcare worker or teaching assistant, the structure of the setting, curriculum and will enable learners to decide on a path of training and employment. You'll study an entry level qualification in personal progression.

How to apply

You'll need to book an appointment to attend an information session with a tutor before you can start the course, to make sure it's the right one for you.

Sessions take place at Wellington House in Barnsley town centre and last about 30 minutes.
