Find and employ a PA

 

Our PA Finder makes it really easy to search for an approved personal assistant (PA).

PA Finder is an online directory of people who’ve registered with us to become PAs and who’ve been checked by us to make sure they’re suitable to support people who need their help.

Our checks include an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check once matched with an individual, and two reference checks - one of which must be a previous employer where applicable.

As well as undergoing checks, PAs must successfully complete the required Care Certificate eLearning modules and additional training as detailed on our training for PAs webpage.

Once all the checks have been made and the training completed, the PA’s details can be added to the PA Finder directory, including:

  • their name
  • the date of the checks we’ve undertaken
  • any training they’ve done
  • their availability

Using the PA Finder allows you to see the information for each PA and makes it easier to compare and choose the right person for you. It also gives you reassurance and peace of mind knowing that anyone on the PA Finder has been checked and approved.

Employing a PA

You can make your own arrangements to hire a personal assistant or you can get a social care assessment to see if you qualify for some help from us.

If you choose to have your own personal assistant to help with your care and everyday needs, you’ll become their employer. When they begin their employment with you you’ll agree their terms and conditions of work, such as the hours you want them to work and the tasks you need them to do, just like in any other job.

Don’t worry, you won’t need to sort all of this by yourself – our brokerage and support team can give you advice. We can help you with personal budgets and direct payments, recruiting and employing a PA, managing your budget, completing financial monitoring returns, as well as answering any questions you may have.
