We have a number of welcoming, warm and inviting spaces for anyone who's feeling the cold. You can go there to get warm, stay warm and even enjoy a little company.
Being able to meet and chat with others in a warm, safe and friendly place can make such a difference! You can come along on your own, with a friend, or with your family.

Barnsley Libraries
Our libraries are hubs where you can meet, learn, discover and access services. You can get online, join in with events, borrow a book or simply have some downtime.
There’s something for everyone, and free Wi-Fi for your own devices.
If you’ve not used a library for some time, you’re in for a surprise – we’ve got a lot more than just books on offer! There’s craft sessions, events, coffee mornings, games groups and a number of kids activity clubs.
With branches across Barnsley, you're never too far from one of our libraries.

Our museums and galleries are fantastic, pocket friendly places to spend time in. They have lots of free events and activities.

Berneslai Homes
Berneslai Homes are offering a wide range of activities and sessions to help you stay warm and well this winter. They've got reading material to keep you entertained and plug points to charge your electricals. They can also offer advice on tenancy support.
They're also hosting events to assist you in gaining lifelong skills such as digital inclusion sessions to help you get online. They also offer "Have a go" sessions hosted by the Achieve Programme, to help you get experience to be able to get into employment. They're also offering level 1 and 2 training sessions and self employment workshops to help you make a difference in your community.

Family centres
This winter, family centres throughout Barnsley are offering support sessions. These include hot food and drinks, cooking and budget friendly recipes, craft activities, games and knitting and sewing activities. They also offer free cost of living support and advice packs. Barnsley mental health services
There's a range of mental health services in Barnsley, including the improving access to psychological therapies (IAPT) service. They offer quick and easy access to the best type of support to help you understand and learn to manage your symptoms. These include conditions like anxiety, stress, low mood and depression.

Rotherham and Barnsley Mind is a local provider of high quality mental health services. They operate in Rotherham, Barnsley and it's surrounding areas.

Domestic abuse support
Domestic abuse is any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional).

You can find details about the help and support available for people with alcohol problems. This includes DrinkCoach, an online tool designed to help people who want to cut down their alcohol intake.
Alcoholics anonymous (AA)
AA is a support service that helps people to not feel alone when battling their addiction. It helps them handle sobriety and they assist in recovery.
